Design meets Sustainability
Our contribution to the event: The specially designed table lamp is the highlight of the WDR 2 Christmas Miracle in every sense. In collaboration with the talented craftsmen and women of the NRW Carpentry Association, we spent months working on this unique design. After numerous drafts and planning stages, a solar lamp was born, impressive not just for its functionality, but also for its stunning look.
The NRW Carpentry Association has been involved in amazing projects for the Christmas Miracle in past years, but this year they had an especially brilliant idea: integrating our SOMO Solar Light into an innovative woodlamp. After apprentices built a lamp with our SOMO Solar Light in their exams last year, the concept has been re-developed from scratch.
How the Innovative Table Lamp Works
The result is a lamp with a practical plug-in system made of three wooden components that can be assembled effortlessly. Our SOMO Solar Light is embedded at the top, offering an eco-friendly alternative to conventional lamps. Each piece is RAL-certified. This lamp isn't just a real eye-catcher; it's a thoroughly thought-out design. The table lamp is more than just a light source; it's a symbol of sustainable innovation and social responsibility, showcasing how design and environmental protection can go hand in hand.

"Aktion Deutschland Hilft"
While supplies last, you can acquire one of these lamps on-site in Essen in exchange for a donation. Each donation supports "Aktion Deutschland Hilft", an organization dedicated to the global fight against hunger. The funds go towards projects that address infrastructure weaknesses, improve medical care, and support people in crisis areas. Especially children, women, and people with disabilities benefit from these measures, which provide not only short-term relief but also long-term solutions. The alliance organization ensures that your donations reach where they are most urgently needed.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look: Udo's Journey to Sonnenglas
A special moment in our collaboration was Udo from the NRW Carpentry Association visiting our factory in Johannesburg. During his trip, he gained insights into our production processes and learned about the company culture that shapes Sonnenglas. We always welcome visitors, mutual project proposals, and idea exchanges. For anyone interested, our doors in South Africa are always open.
