Sonnenglas® Beadwork Edition: Beaded Accents That Shine

Together with Maxwell, we developed the Beadwork Handle Edition – a solar lantern that becomes a vibrant eye-catcher with its artistically beaded handles. The idea behind it? To combine the beauty of South African beadwork with the functional light of our solar lantern. “For me, it was important to connect beadwork with light, so it’s not just something for the eyes but also for the heart,” Maxwell shares. And the result speaks for itself: The Beadwork Special Edition has become a true classic and, of course, remains available in our collection.

For Maxwell, the collaboration with Sonnenglas holds a deeper significance. In many parts of South African communities, kerosene lamps and candles are avoided due to their frequent role in causing fires in shacks and settlements. “The Sonnenglas solar lantern holds a special place for us – it provides light without the dangers of an open flame. That makes me truly proud,” he explains.

New Year, New Angel

The Creation for Special Moments

Following the high demand for the XMAS Beadwork Ornaments we offered last holiday season, Maxwell has introduced a truly special creation for the new year: the Beadwork Guardian Angel. This delicate, handcrafted angel fits perfectly into both our Classic and Mini solar lanterns, transforming them into eye-catching pieces. The intricate figurines can be easily placed inside the jar, adding a unique touch to your solar lantern – whether in the living room, on a windowsill, or as a personalized gift.

The Beadwork Guardian Angel is more than just a beautiful piece of art; it carries a profound meaning. It symbolizes protection and hope, making it the perfect gift for special occasions such as baptisms or birthdays. Whether as a present or a unique addition to your Sonnenglas® solar lantern, this little angel is sure to create countless radiant moments.

Beadwork That Connects and Inspires

What Maxwell values most about the art of beadwork is its ability to bring people together. “Beadwork is a craft without borders. It’s an art form that unites people from all cultures and ethnicities,” he explains. This is why he encourages young people interested in the craft to learn directly from experienced artists: “It’s important to learn from those who truly master the art. Just approach them, ask questions, and let them show you the craft – that’s the best way to understand and pass on an art form.”
