Make More of Your Sonnenglas® and Give Your Old Solar Module a Second Life
We at Sonnenglas® do not want our products to end up as electronic waste after their service life. That's why we continue to look after our products long after the warranty has expired and offer our customers a battery replacement programme.
If the life of the electronics in your Sonnenglas® is coming to an end, you can return your old module (Gen5 or older) to us and receive an upgrade module (Gen6). We will reward your return with a €5 voucher, which you will receive as a discount on the new solar module. Your new upgrade module will again come with our 2-year warranty. So your Sonnenglas® becomes a light for life.
To return your old module and receive your €5 discount voucher, simply send us an email with the serial number of your solar lantern and the subject "Module Upgrade Programme" to info@sonnenglas.net.

What is the Upgrade & Repurpose programm and how does it work?
Reuse. Reduce. Recycle! If you own a SOMO solar light or a Sun Jar from Generation 1 to 5 and wish to upgrade to a Generation 6 SOMO, you can participate in the Upgrade & Repurpose Program and contribute to climate protection. Your old module will either be repurposed or, if that’s not possible, properly recycled. For this, you will receive a €5 voucher for your new SOMO solar light. Simply send an email to our support team and send your old SOMO to one of the following addresses:

It's that simple:
1. Send us your order for your new SOMO Generation 6 by e-mail.
2. Give us the following information: Serial number of the old module, your delivery/billing address, whether you are returning the old module and whether you need a new screw cap.
3. You will receive a proforma invoice with all payment details within 1-2 working days.
4. Payment methods: Bank transfer, credit card, PayPal. Shipping against prepayment.
5. Your Sonnenglas® sun module is usually dispatched by GLS within one working day of receipt of payment.
What is the discount for a new SOMO if I take part in the Upgrade & Repurpose programme?
In Germany: Receive a € 5.00 discount per new module (Swiss customers receive CHF 5.90) when you return your old solar module to us. Your new Sonnenglas® SOMO will then cost €29.99 gross instead of €34.99. Your new Sonnenglas® SOMO Mini will then cost €24.99 instead of €34.99. Additional shipping costs: € 4.90. Without module return plus € 5.00.
Conditions for Switzerland: Sonnenglas® SOMO: CHF 34.00 gross (incl. discount). Sonnenglas® SOMO Mini: CHF 29.00 gross (incl. discount). Additional shipping costs: CHF 9.90. Without module return plus CHF 5.90.
