The new Sonnenglas® Light Carafes are more than just a drinking container, they are an ingenious 2-in-1 solution: the SOMO sun module transforms any Light Carafe into an atmospheric table lamp with a simple turn of the hand (in the truest sense of the word!). Made from 100% recycled glass, our carafes are stylish companions and handmade unique pieces. You can choose between two sizes (750 ml and 1000 ml) and four design variants - from simple transparency to decorative speckles. Each carafe fits perfectly into your home and makes a strong statement about sustainable design.

From Bottle to Carafe - 100% Recycled

The glass for our Sonnenglas® light carafes already has a story behind it: it is made from old bottles that are collected in Eswatini. For many local people, this is their only source of income. After collection and cleaning, the bottles are crushed and melted down. The special feature: The furnace is powered by waste oil and the entire production facility runs on solar energy. Together with our partner, Ngwenya Glass, talented glassblowers transform the used glass into beautiful carafes - each one a small masterpiece of sustainability and craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship and Teamwork

The production of each Sonnenglas® light carafe is an elaborate process that requires exceptional craftsmanship. The employees need about a year to perfect their skills and prove themselves in this craft. Every step of the production process - from glass forming to finishing - requires the collaboration of a team of eight people. Thanks to this deep commitment, we can ensure that every light carafe is a true masterpiece.
